Paris Fashion Week Part 1

Balenciaga

By this time i'm pretty sure many of you knows what happened at the show, but not even broken banks could overshadow it.
As I told you on my older posts: color blocking stills IN for spring & Balenciaga took the runway with maxi hats, geometric cuts jackets, shorts (or should I say mini-shorts?), colors & prints combined creating well-made explosions of blouses & pleaaaase look those amazing shoes!!

Dries Van Noten

The Belgian designer showed his collection at Paris with clean cuts, structural & night landscapes skirts & as we saw in NYFW white over white is going to be the MUST at Spring.
The DVN shoes has always been one of my favorites (not that i own a pair but a girl can always dream of) & this time they're the perfect complement for each look.

Rochas

Inspired by the 50's , pastel colors, organza, lace, skirts, retro sunglasses & head scarves.
Not my favorite collection but there were some pieces i actually liked.

Balmain

What a successful debut from Olivier Rousteing! It's a mix of Mexico, Spain & Las Vegas (giving a rock 'n roll air), while i was looking at the collection i instantly pictured Anna Dello Russo wearing one piece of it. J'ADORE the combination between gold & white. There were minidress with shoulder pads, maxi skirts, leather & metallic details.

Bon week-end!
I'm currently listening to Chris Brown's album. It's amazing.

New York Fashion Week Part 4

Alexander Wang

Fearless sports as inspiration for a fearless collection. Inspired by motocross & race cars, Alexander W. presented his famous urban looks in combination with colors like orange, white, black & blue. It's all about "mini" size skirts all the way to bermudas.

White over white, an absolutely trend for S/S.
Did you paid attention to those pointy stilettos?

Monique Lhuillier

Because of collections like these, Monique is one of the chosen to dress celebrities, models, etc., to red carpet events. & yes, color blocking stills on for S/S.
The gowns are to die for! Monique used fabrics like chiffon, leather, tulle & jersey & as you can see white, black, blue & yellow are the S/S colors for next year.
Part of her success comes from how she plays with silhouttes , your body can't seem wrong with one of her creations.

Prabal Gurung

**Confession alert with a little bit of shame**, I had NO idea who was Prabal Gurung 'til this fashion week, yes ... i have to read more. Then i realized he doesn't have a long career, he presented his first collection at 2009, so after knowing that i felt relieved.

This NYFW doesn't has just the colorblocking as a trend; the sporty & athletic look is THE TREND as you can see with the Alexander Wang's collection & with Prabal's collection.
In this case, the collection is full of delicate details. It's provocative.

I love, love, LOVE the turquoise short & jacket. Silk fabric (in many derivations) was the major chosen for the collection.

New York Fashion Week Part 3

Jill Stuart

Jill Stuart showed her collection, at the Lincoln Center, with simple pastels dresses, pants & tops inspired by bird songs. I love the contrast between pastels & metallic shoes & how were managed the final looks (hair and makeup) of the models, very natural & carefree, perfect for spring.

Carlos Campos

The Honduran designer, presented his spring/summer 2012 collection at the Milk Studios. I was very pleased about the comments on twitter, blogs & tumblr were people told how Carlos is the  perfect men designer who's not afraid to use colors.

Without doubt he's making his name at New York by how talented he is.
His proposal for spring/summer is based on blue shades & blue accents

AND THE SHOES! Love them!!

Christian Siriano

Who doesn't remember this Project Runway winner? The collection showed on Saturday at Eyebeam was dramatic & spectacular. Colors like lime, orange & lemon took the runway with 38 looks in company of dresses, skirts & pants. Who thought jersey t-shirts couldn't look so chic? Let me remind you he's only 25 years old. His career is growing each day as his creativity & talent.

These were my favorite looks from the runway:
